Types of Residence Permit
Residence permit for the purpose of reunification of a family in the territory
You can apply for this type of permit in case that you are a husband or a minor or an adult child of an alien who is a residence permit holder or an asylee (a person who is eligible to family reunification), or a minor in foster care of an alien who holds a residence permit, or if you are a parent (or a grandparent) or a guardian of a minor asylee, if you are a solitary alien over 65 years of age, or an alien with a disability (irrespective of age) who is not capable of providing for himself/herself and whose parent or child has a residence permit.
A person with whom you wish to reunify, i.e. a member of your family, needs to have a permanent residence permit or a long term residence permit and needs to have stayed in the CR for the minimum of 15 months.
The application can be submitted at the embassy or at the relevant alien police department in case that you have been staying in the territory on the 90 days visa or based on a long term residence permit for other purposes.
The permit is issued for a period of time which corresponds to the validity duration of a residence permit card which was issued to a person eligible to family reunification; if a permanent residence permit was issued to a person eligible for reunification, the above permit is issued at least for 1 or 2 years.
Requisites of the application:
travel document
document evidencing that a person is provided with a lodging in the territory
abstract from Criminal Register (except persons under the age of 15)
2 photographs
document confirming family relationship
consent of a parent/ (legal) guardian of a minor
if a child is being reunified with another person, you need a document evidencing that aggregate income of a family reunified will suffice to cover sustenance and other basic needs of all its members as well as essential household expenses in accordance with the Act on Subsistence Minimum No.463/91 of the Col. (Sufficient aggregate income of a family is calculated as follows: the amount which is needed to cover sustenance and other basic personal needs is added to the amount needed to cover essential household expenses for each member of the family and then is multiplied by the number of months of assumed duration of a long term residence permit. Types of documents confirming a person’s income include: confirmation by an employer, tax return, account statement opened in his/her name. A new Act on Subsistence Minimum No.110/2006 of the Col. becomes effective as of January 1st, 2007.)
You are obliged to submit following documents as requested:
document analogous to the abstract from Criminal Register which is a basis for
assessing your integrity; the document shall be issued by the state whose
citizenship you have, as well as by the states in which you were staying
continuously for at least 6 months during the last three years (document evidencing
your integrity). In case that some of the relevant states will not issue this
document, you can replace it with the declaration on word of honour. It is not
required from persons under the age of 15;
medical report indicating that you do not suffer from a serious disease (it can be
required in case of justified suspicion only).
In case that a long term residence permit for the purpose of reunification of the family in the territory is granted, you are obliged to appear in person at the relevant alien police department within 3 working days from the date of entry in the territory to lift your residence permit card. When taking over the card, you are obliged to submit your travel health insurance policy for the period of stay.
If you are going to reunify with the asylee and you submit your application within 3 months from the date, when the decision on granting asylum to your family member came into force, you are obliged to submit your travel document, 2 photographs and the proof of your relationship.
Police shall clear your application within 270 days from the date of submitting the application.
Administrative fee of CZK 1000 shall be collected for issuing such permit. Children under the age of 15 pay CZK 500.
